The Flexible Response (Flood) Exercise concluded on March 28th after three days of intensive training at Woodhouse Park Activity Centre in Bristol. The exercise tested UK ISAR teams in challenging flood scenarios, enhancing their adaptability and operational effectiveness in real-world deployments.

Teams engaged in complex rescue operations, establishing operational bases, executing water-based rescues, and maintaining effective command and control. Diverse flood conditions, night exercises, and unforeseen challenges tested their flexibility, ensuring they could adapt to evolving disaster situations.
Personnel from UK ISAR units and multiple Fire & Rescue Services, including London Fire Brigade, Cheshire, Essex, Greater Manchester, and others, participated. The Urban Medical Team provided crucial emergency support, reinforcing the comprehensive nature of the exercise.
Simulating real-word flood disasters, participants camped outdoors, practiced chainsaw operations, and relied on emergency ration packs. The exercise proved a resounding success, strengthening UK ISAR’s readiness for flood-related emergencies and enhancing their ability to protect communities in future operations.
