A distinguished team from UK ISAR was honoured at a humanitarian reception at Buckingham Palace, where they met King Charles III, Queen Camilla, and Princess Anne. The reception recognised the invaluable contributions of humanitarian organisations, including UK ISAR, for their dedication to disaster response and global aid efforts.
Among those in attendance were members of the UK ISAR administration team, UK ISAR Capability Team as well as responders from London Fire Brigade, Kent Fire Service, and a dedicated UK ISAR volunteer—a structural engineer—who played a crucial role in international disaster relief operations. Their work was particularly acknowledged for their deployment to Morocco in September 2023, following the devastating earthquake that struck the Atlas Mountains.

The UK ISAR team was swiftly mobilised after the earthquake, bringing expertise in search and rescue, structural assessment, and humanitarian aid to assist affected communities. Their efforts included locating and rescuing survivors, assessing the stability of damaged buildings, and providing much-needed relief to those impacted by the disaster.
During the reception, King Charles III, Queen Camilla, and Princess Anne expressed their gratitude for the team’s dedication and bravery. Their recognition of UK ISAR’s contributions highlights the importance of international collaboration in disaster response and the essential role played by UK professionals in global humanitarian efforts.
The reception at Buckingham Palace served as a moment of reflection and appreciation for the tireless work of the UK ISAR team, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to providing aid in times of crisis. The event was not only a tribute to past achievements but also an encouragement for continued efforts in international search and rescue operations.
